Book #34
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Tenna Massey is a Demon Hunter. In fact she's the fulfillment of a prophesy and is know among the Family as the Dark Slayer. Her mother and father were Hunters and were killed when she was a young child. Instead of the Family taking her in to care for her she was let go into the foster care system. She hasn't forgiven them. Now she's an adult and her husband is possessed by a Demon and trying his best to kill her. Will she fulfill the prophesy and be the Dark Slayer or will she run and hide?
I really liked the story line of this book and am anxious to learn more about the back story. More details about Tenna's mom and dad, more about the Family, the prophesy, and what came before. Or did I miss a previous book?
A couple of things bothered me in the book. At the beginning Tenna speaks of her dad's best friend who should have raised her and calls him Virgil. Later in the book his name is Nigel? or is Nigel someone else entirely and we just don't hear anymore about Virgil? Another thing that got under my skin was the excessive use of 'giggle'. Someone was always giggling. Tenna, Claire, Jason and Russell the big bad men were giggling. Too much. I was also aggravated by the description of everyone who was talking on the phone with Tenna moving the phone. Enough of this description. Maybe a little more editing would have been welcomed. Am I being too picky? I don't know the answer, but little things like that bother me when I'm reading and make me less likely to read another book by the author.

Book 17 of 2012
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
When I first started reading this I didn't understand all the positive reviews I'd heard from my friends. It was really slow getting started, but did turn around. I'm intrigued by the Black Dagger Brotherhood and definitely want to learn more about some of the brothers. I enjoyed the introduction to this breed of vampires and the world they live in.
Wrath and Beth are at the center of this story and are fairly uninteresting characters. I was a little put off with the ease with which Beth (and Butch) accepted that vampires existed. I think most folks would be a slight bit more skeptical. I'm much more interested in Zsadist and his story. I'll try a few more before I decide if it's a MUST read series.

Book 11 of 2012
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is the first book in the Kate Daniels series and I definitely enjoyed it. I have several more of these on my Kindle and will be reading them soon. Love the setting in Atlanta, GA. Since I live just south of Atlanta and go there frequently it was fun to read about the sites around town.
I really loved that this series treats the monsters like they are monsters. And boy were there some scary monsters in this book. No pretty, sparkly drop dead gorgeous vamps and weres in Hotlanta!
I hope we get a little more back story in the next installment. I'd love to learn more about Kate's dad and what drives her. I'm anxious to delve into the Guild, the People, the Pack, and the Order. I hope there's much more in subsequent books.

Book 35 Summer Knight by Jim Butcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I'm really enjoying this series. The final battles are so over the top. It's unbelievable that Dresden can ever get through another one, but he always does (with a little help from some friends). I love the different characters and hope to see Susan and Elaine in future books. This was #4, I know I'm late to this series, but that means there are lots for me to read and no waiting!

book 18 of 2011 -- Grave Peril by Jim Butcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Grave Peril is the 3rd book in The Dresden Files. I've come to this series a little late and I've thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 books in the series. According to a snippet on the front of this paperback, there is a series based on the books on SciFi channel. Wonder if it still airs? I'll have to check on that.
This book is exactly how I like my sci/fi/fantasy reads. Over the top! Harry Dresden faces some really bad-ass supernatural shit in this outing. Ghosts, spirits, vampires, and other un-nameable entities. this one is Evil with a capital E! I'm sad that Susan has been hurt and anxious to read the next installment to see how she fares. I'm glad to have met Thomas and Justine and am hopeful that they will make appearance in volumes yet to be read. Michael is awesome and I'd like to read more of Charity and the kiddos, especially Harry's little namesake. He should be one interesting kid based on his tortured birth. Book number four shall be placed on my library hold list so that I can get on with this series.

53 -- Knock Out
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I happen to like Coulter's FBI series and this one was a great installment. Set in the Appalachian Mountain country, involving a cult, a small child and some weird powers, this one is a page turner.

52 -- The Accidental Vampire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love the premise of this one. Elvi is made into a vampire accidentally. Maybe I missed it in a previous book, but no matter what your age when you become a vamp, you automatically go back to a younger hotter self. Wowza, I think I want to be a vampire.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I like Vincent and loved Jackie, but most of all, I can't wait to see if Tiny hooks up with Aunt Marguerite!!
And then to see some of those sexy Italian Vamps hook up. This series just makes me happy!

46 -- Tall Dark and Hungry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Loving htis series more and more. Bastien and Terri were great together. I have the next 3 lined up to read soon. Can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the family. I really like the explanation for vampires in this series. It's scientific and so it makes more sense.

21 -- Sex Lies and Vampires
Author: Katie MacAlister
finished: April 6, 2009
synopsis: As far as she can tell, Nell Harris is either going insane or she is in love. Nell thought she had been summoned to Prague to work on an inscription in a rare fourteenth-century breastplate. Instead, she is immersed in the world of the Moravian Dark Ones (think vampires) when she is swept up in the search for a boy held captive by the demon lord Asmodeus. Although Nell would like nothing better than to use her powers as a "Charmer" to help find the missing boy, the last time she dabbled in magic the consequences were dire. Then Nell meets Adrian Tomas. Bound to serve Asmodeus and forced to betray his fellow Dark Ones, Adrian desperately needs Nell to charm away his curse. One look into Adrian's haunted eyes, and Nell discovers she will do just about anything to save the soul of her new beloved. The third in Mac-Alister's wickedly sexy and wildly humorous Dark Ones series, this is another wonderfully original, practically perfect paranormal treat.
My thoughts: Another wacky paranormal that was fun and light. Just what I needed.

9 -- Storm Front
Author: Jim Butcher
Finished: 02/08/09
My thoughts: This is the first book of the Dresden Files, a series about a wizard who makes his living in the Chicago area. Harry sometimes helps out the police in the person of Lt. Murphy by consulting on 'interesting' cases. The case he consults on in this book is certainly a doozie! I think I like Harry Dresden and I'm pretty sure I'll be looking for more of the books in this series.
