The Girl Who Played With Fire -- Book 3 2001

Can this really be only book 3, or is it book 4. Does it count if you started it in 2010 but finished it in 2011? If so, then this is book 4. I guess I need to decide so that I can change the numbers.

The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2)The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is what I call a thriller. It really kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't want to read it too fast because there's only one left in the series and I just don't want to lose Salander. I was glad to find out what 'All The Evil' and really compared to some of the other violence in the book it was pretty tame. If you like a book that will keep you so involved you forget that these aren't real people then this one is a winner. Going to get this one in the mail to my mom. Can't wait to talk about it with her!

The week in review

How did my week go? Overall it was a pretty good week. Went shopping on MLK day and had a wonderful lunch with my bff. The kids were in a pretty good mood at school this week. A few incidences, but no real problems. I can't decide if I like working with the little ones in pre-k or if I'm liking the older 4th and 5th graders. what I do know is that I need to brush up on my math skills if I'm gonna help them though. I'm really afraid that I'll tell them something wrong. You know they do things a lot differently now than they did when I was in 4th and 5th grade. I don't want to mess up. Take my cues from the teachers and hopefully everything will be okay.

I'm still reading The Girl Who Played with Fire and loving every minute of it. Not sure if I like it more than Tattoo, but it's equally as good. Right now, I'm missing Salander, but I know she'll be back.

Cooking today and it's smelling good! Baked tilapia with rosemary and feta cheese, lima beans and candied sweet potatoes. Yum

Just stuff

After snow days on Monday and Tuesday we went back to school on Wednesday. I was ready and oddly enough so were the children. They seemed to be glad to be in school. Maybe they were as bored with laying around at home as I was. So it was a short week, only 3 days and now we have a 3 day weekend for the MLK holiday on Monday.
Tonight is Chinese and a movie with my good friend. Hopefully her kids will cooperate. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
Started a book on Wednesday, and have begun to get into it and what happens. 3, yes I said 3 books that I had on hold at the library came in. So...gotta put down my book and start reading the library book. But which one to start first? Can't decide if I want to go with Freedom by Jonathan Franzen or A Place Called Wiregrass by Michael Morris. The third book that came is is The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson but I think I'll wait to start it. My sweet cousin Darci from Texas has mailed me her copy, so I won't need to read the library copy.

The Cracker Queen -- Book 2 2011

The Cracker Queen: A Memoir of a Jagged, Joyful LifeThe Cracker Queen: A Memoir of a Jagged, Joyful Life by Lauretta Hannon

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Didn't know when I started this that the author was from Warner Robins and that it was gonna be all about weird Georgia folks. It was funny and worth the read.

Snow day!

yep, it's a snow day here in Middle Georgia though I'm not sure that's snow out there. It's more like an accumulation of sleet and frozen rain. No one has driven down my street, but I live on a cul de sac so you don't really have alot of traffic. I hope that folks are home staying warm and safe and not out running the roads. By the way, a big negative goes out to Geico the gecco made their employees risk their lives by going into work today. Way to go Greedy Geico. Got the white beans in the pot with a ham bone and looking forward to a lazy day. They say the weather is gonna get worse before it gets better. Might there be another day off work tomorrow? Never can tell

Will it snow??

So the weathermen say it's gonna start to snow and sleet and turn to freezing rain tonight. Does that mean the BOE will go ahead tonight and tell us school's canceled tomorrow? Probably not. We'll get that system call in the early morning hours so that we all have to wake up early instead of getting another day of sleeping in. Oh well, maybe I'll just take the phone off the hook and sleep in anyway. I just hope it's snow and not ice. Being at home for snow is okay, hopefully the ice and power outages will stay away...far far away.

The Girl with the Dragon Tatto -- Book 1 of 2011

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started this book last year at Christmas time and only made it about 30 or 40 pages. Then I gave it to my mom and she raved about it. So did others who read lots of the same types of books that I read and love. So......I started it again when I was home for New Years. My mom told me to give it about 100 pages and I'd be hooked. She was right. I'd give it a 5 if the first part hadn't been so cumbersome and uninteresting. I wasn't really off put by the violence toward women as some previous reviewers were. Am I sick somehow because I read really violent books with some disgusting characters? I don't read sick disgusting books exclusively. I've got The Girl Who Played with Fire on hold at the library and can't wait to get it read. Think I'll read something light now.

Cold and rainy

I hate days like today. It's cold and rainy and I couldn't stay in bed and read all day. That's what I like to do on cold rainy days. But I had to drag myself out of bed and go to work and smile and be nice to children. Some days I hate being nice to children. I did it though. I smiled and worked with the little darlings and hopefully made some progress with some of them today.

Day 2

Today was the first day back at work and it was a good day. Went to a basketball game and froze to death. The gym didn't have heat, or they forgot to pay the heating bill, cause by the time I left my toes were frozen. Left right after work and just got home so it was a long day. Watching Millionaire Matchmaker and getting ready for The Fashion Show. I love BravoTV!!

New year...new bloggin habits?

Okay, so I totally quit keeping up with this blog, but I'm hoping this year will find me writing here more. I'm going to try again to keep up with the books I read and maybe to keep up with what's happening in my life too.
2010 was a doozy. Lost my job in May and am only working part time. May be time for a change in career, but I just don't know what I might want to do.
I turned 50 in 2010 too. Some days I feel every one of those 50 years, but other days I still feel like I'm a teenager.
So...here's to 2011 and hoping it's a better year for me.
